Bold Statements
As we look at our government we see a demonstration of audacity on a daily basis by those politicians identified as Progressive, Liberal, Democrat, or RINO. We see weakness and timidity in the leadership of the opposition. If we don't flip the traits of each side it will continue the slide from American Exceptionalism to American Impotence. Or, worse but still a valid concern, American Tyranny.
Our President has lied, cheated, and subverted the plain language of the Constitution. He has killed American Citizens without benefit of trial. He has failed to actually execute the laws of the land. And, he has openly stated that if the Congress doesn't follow his lead and do as he says... he'll do it himself. The very definition of audacious and bold in the worst possible sense. And the beginning of a potential American Tyrant.
In the Congress on faction has bent over backwards to subordinate themselves to his power. The other has talked tough but in the end submitted rather than fight. Those up-and-coming politicians that advocate boldness in pursuit of liberty and freedom are demonized by all the above. The Republican Party, long billed as Conservative and committed to Liberty and Constitutional values, is in the midst of a civil war. The establishment Republicans are more closely aligned with the Democrats than they are with conservative elements. By their own actions they show that the priority is to remain in power even if it means rolling over and showing their belly.
What can you do? Here are Four Simple Steps that the electorate can take. In future posts we will go into more detail.
- Call or write your elected representatives on every issue of importance. Make it known that you are a voter. Make it known that this isn't a private conversation and you will be spreading the results of it around. Most elected reps have a facebook and twitter page. If you contact them that way there might be a more immediate response if the rest of the world picks it up and helps you to beat the drum.
- Crucify, publicly via social media, every politician of any party that is provably unethical or criminal. You and I have the right to openly expect elected officials to be Statesmen vice Politicians. By allowing corruption to go unseen, unaccounted, or ignored we are the enablers of the Tyranny of Low Expectations. Instead demand great things and settle for nothing less.
- This one goes hand-in-hand with the above. As elections approach, get involved. Do the due diligence on every candidate and publish via social media the results. If one of the candidates is suspected of beating his wife it would be smart to publish it. After all, we are demanding greatness instead of rewarding substandard character right? Right?
- Identify key legislation that is either good or bad and go after it. Use the vast resources of the internet to provide factual support or opposition. Be openly prepared to defend your conclusions with rational thought. You should welcome the conflict because it will attract those that normally sit on the fence and take no action.
It's up to you. You can match the boldness of those working to steal your liberty or you can sit back and keep on playing angry birds.

Americans Elect 2012 Review and Comments
Essentially the site is going to do the things needed to get a non-partizan candidate for President and Vice-President on the ballot in all fifty states. It will do this by havign registered voteres sign up, answer questions about thier views, and vote in an online convention. The winner of the vote will be placed on the ballot in all fifty states. The site believes it will break the gridlock of partisan politics.
Overall I think the site has merit. I think that if their sales pitch actually works it could, over time, become a focus of a growing debate. So, I will see it through just to find out if I am right or not.
After answering 136 questions (there are more but my clicker was asking for overtime cash) I stumbled across one that floored me. Remember that everyone on the site is supposed to be a registered voter. That means they care and actually participate in the process. Your answer, weighted based on priorites you establish, is factored into all the other answers so you get a national and state average.
The Question was: Which of the statements below is closest to your personal view?
The results were:
| Option and % Of Answers | Answers |
|---|---|
| A 13% | It is very important to stick to principles |
| B 18% | It is more important for politicians in Congress to stick to the principles and values on which they campaigned |
| C 67% | It is more important for politicians in Congress to work with members of the other party and make consensus policy |
| D 2% | Unsure |
That tells me that I am wasting my breath talking about character. It appears to me that 67% of the registered voters who have been to the site would knowingly elect crooks and liars as long as they reach across the aisle and come to a consensus.
It's no wonder that an Ethics Challenged for Speaker who moonlighted as a Serial Adulterer is gaining in the polls.

Banking and Politics: Why Obama Might Win Again
Politics is the same way. We have the big name Republicans in the form of Mitt Romney and Tricky Ricky and they are telling the voters to "just accept it".
Congress is trying to extend the drug war overseas on Americans citizens. Just accept it.
Obama is killing American citizens who haven't been convicted of any crime.
Just accept it.
And as we move closer to actual primaries we see the establishment coming out and telling us to look hard at Romney or Perry. We have Christie and Palin making news for not running. We have religious leaders at the latest straw poll denigrating another mans religion as a cult. While some occupy wall street, more Americans occupy prisons in the failed war on drugs. It's ok though. This is how it's always been.
Guys like Ron Paul and Herman Cain almost have no chance. After all, the game is rigged by the establishment. And, Obama will likely win again. He will continue to lead the nation into ruin. Why is it always the same? How come every four years the same meme is played out no matter which party is in charge? You guessed it.
Because most people Just accept it.

How to Budget Congress
Forecast Revenue: Figure out how often you are going to stop and count your money. For most of us it is weekly or monthly. For a business it might be quarterly. For the Treasury it is annually. Using that as a base, take your best guess on how much cash you will have. Then subtract about five percent as a fudge factor.
Prioritize Line Items: List everything you are going to spend money on during the period you just forecast. Each item is "Need to spend", "Good to Spend", or "Nice to Spend". Simply put, "Need" means that bad things will happen if you don't fully fund that item and commit the cash. "Good" means that bad things could happen but it's just short of certain. "Nice" means you can postpone it without anything truly bad happening.
Revise Your Revenue: On the prescribed day, count the actual cash on hand.
Revise Line Items: For each item listed as "Need", skip to writing the checks. Total the cash remaining. Let's pretend you now have forty dollars. Will the forty dollars pay off the "Good" items? If it will, write the checks. Is there any left over? Let's say you have ten dollars remaining. Ten is 10% of the original $100. So, pay ten percent of each remaining line item. This way, nothing is totally left out. But, at the same time the truly important (in relation to the other items) stuff is fully funded.
Write Checks: I think we all know how to do that.
I'm not going to try to write the official procedure and the flowchart of tasks needed to accomplish this at the federal level. I also get that our elected neighbors will scream that every item they sponsor is a "need". That exact lack of integrity is what gets us to deficit spending in the first place. You and I must elect someone who can be honest and say that while it would be nice to provide Americorps, the world won't end if we don't. It's a hard call and will take enormous amounts of character and moral courage.
By now you may have noticed that I switched gears in a clumsy ham handed way. Politics is supposed to be the art of getting it done. It takes Statesmen and all we are seeing is the basic professional pol. From the Vice President and others that denigrate the Tea Party by calling them terrorists, to would-be Presidents that use words like "Tar baby" and "Boy" in just the right way to invite screams of racism no matter the intent; We face a deficit of Statesmen. Until we fix that, the debt will never be paid.

Deeper in Debt: What's the Next Step?
Democrats are furious that tax revenues weren't part of the package, and the president pledged to continue to press for tax increases to help balance the budget.
"Everyone is going to have to chip in. It's only fair," Obama said in a Rose Garden address, singling out subsidies to oil and gas companies and tax loopholes. "That's the principle I'll be fighting for during the next phase of this process."

Is This The Sound of Civil Discourse?
Yeah right. A smattering of easynews will cure that wish faster than a firehose on a birthday cake.
Right now, it seems that Politico is calling those aligned with the Tea Party "Terrorists". And that sentiment is echoed by various members of congress in full hearing of the Vice President.
Of course, I'm sure there are people on the other side of the aisle that call the liberals all sorts of names. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen anything from the main stream media
I guess it's too much to hope for that the powers that be will simply get it done in a workmanlike manner. While a well turned phrase is a mark of style it seems that Civility

The Debt Crisis: Why We Are Not Done Yet
The Daily Mail said it best:
At the root of all this is sheer hubris. From the Eighties onwards, the American people have refused to accept that to keep their status as the world’s most powerful economy, they need to make tough choices over the size of the government budget and levels of taxes.
Instead of working hard and consuming less, they have allowed themselves to grow fat and lazy. They’ve racked up debts as if there were no tomorrow, forgetting that one day those dues must be paid.
Those are harsh words to be sure. But wait, there's more....(at the same link)
It is no exaggeration to say that the American economy is at a crossroads.
If Washington somehow managed to conquer its addiction to debt, then the great productive capacities and inventiveness of the American continent would once again be unleashed.
Just like always there is hope. In order to make it happen you and I need to talk to our neighbors. We need to contact our elected mouthpieces. We need to demand financial reform in government.
Here is a short list of what has to happen:
- Reform the tax collection system. The income tax no longer works. Switch to the Fairtax
.
- Reduce spending
and government to only those items that absolutely need to be funded. That means that Defense is on the table and so is Government Charity such as welfare.
- Create a line item in the budget specifically to pay down the debt.

Islamic Center Attracts Protesters on Both Sides - NYTimes.com
From the NYT:
Islamic Center Attracts Protesters on Both Sides - NYTimes.com: "Two protests on Sunday morning, in the normally quiet blocks north of Ground Zero, claimed to be on the side of tolerance. One camp stood in favor of the mosque and Islamic center that has been proposed for the area; the other argued against.
Wolves among the sheep include a lady in line for the Presidency. You did know that she advocated investigating the protesters right? No one in NY that I've read about agrees with her. But, it sure smacks of some of the late great socialist nations of the former USSR. Papers Please?
Remember this. Any protests should swell from the local community. And any calls to investigate the protesters is just as unAmerican as can be. There should be no federal involvement at all in what is a state/local issue. Send an email to Madame Pelosi telling her that those remarks smack of Socialism

Charly Rangel, LIndsay Lohan, & Three Mile Island
Rep. Charles "Charly" Rangel won't step aside despite the ethics
BP v. 3 Mile Island: Back in the day, Jimmy Carter faced an energy issue oriented year. We were talking about using more nuclear power
Realistically speaking what we can do is:
Urge Rep. Rangel to step aside from all Congressional duties until the ethics trial is concluded.
Urge your elected officials to review the safety records of petro and nuclear energy production. Once they see that nuclear energy is a victim of bad PR and zealous activists ask them to support building more nuclear plants.
Remember that every day should be memorial day if only for a moment. Let Lindsay have her fifteen minutes, but give others the same time.

The Lawsuit Against Arizona Moves On, Media Trying To Remain Relevent
One article is pretty bold. They actually comment about the Arizona judge being under pressure to rule against the US.
“It’s very hard to predict what the district court is going to do,” says Legomsky, the John S. Lehmann University Professor. “Its decision will be made by just one randomly selected judge, and that judge will be an Arizona resident who might come under intense personal pressure to defend his or her state’s law against federal intervention.’’ -- source article
Our friends and neighbors over at the NY Daily are at least openly pro-lawsuit. While my high school journalism teacher would have edited out any hint of bias, standards in this day and age are not so high. The following excerpt is not in an opinion piece, but within the "News" column.
WASHINGTON - The Obama administration sued Arizona on Tuesday to kill, or at least stall, the state's hotly disputed new law allowing local cops to target suspected illegal immigrants. -- Source Article
I hope I am not the only one to notice the disinformation
I personally don't care where you stand on the issue as long as it's your stand. The news media can be your first source, but don't let it be your only source. From what you read, take the time to do some research and then you can do a gut check with facts.

Health Care Reform Bill Vote Looming
President Obama, in an extraordinary session with the Democratic caucus just a day before a climactic vote on major health care legislation, made a forceful case for health care reform on both policy and political grounds.
In closing his remarks to House Democrats, Mr. Obama told them they were on the verge of making history.
“You have a chance to make good on the promises you made,” Mr. Obama said. “This is one of those moments. This is one of those times where you can honestly say to yourself: ‘Doggone it, this is exactly why I came here. This is why I got into politics. This is why I got into public service. This is why I made these sacrifices.’ ”
That's a great quote. But, great legislation isn't made on great quotes. Health care reform is heavily invested in misdirection, special interests, and outright political maneuvering. Todays last ditch effort by the majority party and thier various cheering sections show that the health care reform bill isn't a shoe in.
Instead, everyone is pulling out the stops and coming out from behind the curtains to expose themselves. Rather than work in smoke filled rooms, they are making open frontal assaults in an effort to influence the outcome. So, today is the day to look into them and call your representative.
How do you do that? Your first step is to go to the house website and click your state. From there as you see in this snapshot of the Texas page, you will see a list of your guys. Click your guy and you will know his or her position. If they are opposed to so-called health care reform, then send them a message of support. If they are for the health care reform bill then send them logical reasons why they must oppose it.
Remember that your taxes, your personal liberties, your states' status as an individual and unique entity, your federal governments size and reach, and your very health are at stake.
Move to the sounds of the guns. It is time to engage in a decisive battle. Contact your representatives and urge failure of the health care reform bill.

Fed to Increase Its Power to Regulate Banks and Calls For 20 Billion Promising Internet For All
(Reuters) - The Federal Reserve would win sweeping new powers over nonbank financial firms and keep much of its authority over banks, under revised legislation to be unveiled on Monday by the chief architect of financial reform in the Senate
Fed gets new oversight powers under Dodd bill | Reuters
And, since we have nothing better to do, there's the matter of how to spend in excess of twenty billion dollars. Maybe a payment on the interest of the national debt? Uh No. And don't look for anything even remotely constitutional either.
Folks, we have decided that universal access to the internet is a fundamental right and is worth over $20,000,000,000. Yep. Let's not worry about literacy or anything like that. Let's not put it into health care for our nations veterans. Instead we want to be double sure that everyone has equal access to internet porn amongst other things.
(Reuters) - U.S. regulators will announce a major Internet policy this week to revolutionize how Americans communicate and play, proposing a dramatic increase in broadband speeds that could let people download a high-definition film in minutes instead of hours.
Dramatically increasing Internet speeds to 25 times the current average is one of the myriad goals to be unveiled in the National Broadband Plan by the the Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday.
U.S. to roll out major broadband policy | ReutersFurther into the story is the hook that better scare you off of this:
Officials have said the plan will ask Congress to fund up to $16 billion to build an emergency public safety system.
It would also tell lawmakers that a one-time injection of $9 billion could accelerate broadband reach to the 4 percent of Americans who do have access. Otherwise they could let the FCC carry out a 10-year plan to realign an $8 billion U.S. subsidy program for universal broadband access instead of universal phone access. The biggest questions on my mind are why we will spend this kind of money when we don't need to. The internet isn't critical infrastructure. And, technology of all sorts is so competitive that growth and improvement are virtually assured. Nope, this smacks of political payback to a big campaign donor.
Now's the time to organize a call in to your reps and senators. Or, just let it happen.

Charlie Rangel Steps Down Before He Can Be Fired
And, let's be real, if you are going to chair the committee that is responsible for all things tax related you had best be spot on with your own taxes. CREDO says "It's Time to shame Sen. Shelby"
Dear Phillip,
A Republican Senator from Alabama has put what is by all accounts an extraordinary 'blanket hold' on almost every single nomination that President Obama has sent to the Senate.
This is what happens when the Democratic leadership plays nice with bullies. The country loses. And if Sen. Richard Shelby is successful, this kind of extortion will only get worse.
Bullies? Extortion? Pretty strong words. But is it any different than the Democratic minority just a couple of years ago? Listen to some old Hannity/Rush reruns. History always repeats itself.
It's time for Democratic leadership to stand up to Republicans, starting with Sen. Shelby. Senate Majority Leader Reid should refuse to honor Shelby's 'blanket hold' on more than 70 nominees. If Republicans want to block every single Obama appointee, they must filibuster them one-by-one and deal with the very public consequences of their obstructionism. Sen. Shelby should be ashamed — but he is not.....
Becky Bond, Political Director
CREDO Action from Working Assets"
Actually I agree with the sentiment. I'd love to see a catfight in the senate. But the ultimate would be a change to the rules. The Senate should have a ten day limit and then an up or down vote. Failure to act would equate to the adage of "silence is consent" and the nominee is installed.
I heartily recommend that everyone sign up for these "action" emails. It won't be long before they run together and you'll see that both sides are essentially crooks whose only goal is personal enrichment.

Health Care Debate Still Raging
The Reality Check: Any mandatory program that takes your hard earned dollars is theft by government. And, just because it's been done in the past by the income tax and social security doesn't make it right.
Speaking of "doing it in the past doesn't make it right today".... Anyone notice how it was perfectly patriotic when GWB was portrayed like this?
The Associated Press: Rep. Frank lashes out at protester for Nazi remark: "Rep. Frank lashes out at protester for Nazi remark
(AP) – 4 hours ago
DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Rep. Barney Frank lashed out at protester who held a poster depicting President Barack Obama with a Hitler-style mustache during a heated town hall meeting on federal health care reform.
'On what planet do you spend most of your time?' Frank asked the woman, who had stepped up to the podium at a southeastern Massachusetts senior center to ask why Frank supports what she called a Nazi policy.
'Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it,' Frank said.
Frank noted that her ability to deface an image of the president and express her views 'is a tribute to the First Amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated.'"
In another perspective, the President is reaching to religious leaders and deploring the lies and false statements of his opponents. But, take a look at the emphasized text in the next two excerpts. Who is lying?
Obama Calls Health Plan a ‘Moral Obligation’ - NYTimes.com: "Obama Calls Health Plan a ‘Moral Obligation’
By JEFF ZELENY and CARL HULSE
WASHINGTON — President Obama sought Wednesday to reframe the health care debate as “a core ethical and moral obligation,” imploring a coalition of religious leaders to help promote the plan to lower costs and expand insurance coverage for all Americans.
“I know there’s been a lot of misinformation in this debate, and there are some folks out there who are frankly bearing false witness,” Mr. Obama told a multidenominational group of pastors, rabbis and other religious leaders who support his goal to remake the nation’s health care system."
Obama camp deploys more fake doctors – Could there be other falsification about healthcare reform?: "Obama camp deploys more fake doctors – Could there be other falsification about healthcare reform?
August 19, 6:09 PMPittsburgh Conservative ExaminerJosh Geldrich
First, pediatrician Roxana Mayer turned out not to be a doctor, but actually was an Obama campaign delegate and now a real estate saleswoman claiming to be a physician asks Barney Franks softball questions on healthcare reform.
At a town hall in Massachusetts operated by Representative Barney Frank , Ms. Sheila Levitt of Newton MA, claiming to be a doctor, asked Barney Frank some rather soft-ball questions about the controversial healthcare plan.
Only one problem, Sheila Levitt isn’t registered or listed with the Massachusetts Board of Registration on Medicine."
Reality Check: Both sides are ratcheting up the hysteria factor. Right now, the majority of Republicans are opposing health care reform simply because it is a Democrat program. If both sides wanted to truly reform health care in line with the Constitution, they would start with tort reform and eliminate mandatory participation. In other words, butt out for the most part.
